Criteria of Judging (Recommendations for contestants).

Welcome all who are interested in dance!
This article is for someone who only takes the first steps in the magical art of BELLYDANCE, as well as for those who from lesson to lesson seek to improve themselves through grueling workouts.
You will probably ask why? And the answer is simple - to enter the contest!
How to prepare for the contest in order to avoid mistakes and disappointments? - It is necessary to "see and think" as a judge.

Judging is the "dimension" of the quality of dance performance. For this purpose, evaluation criteria are used. Before proceeding to their description, it is necessary to say that the judge makes the final verdict on the basis of a comparative analysis. At the same time comparing competing with each other, rather than each separately, adjusting to the model that he invented himself.

Brief recommendations of the judge for the contestants.
Technique. - This is the purity of performance of general choreographic dance elements and Basic technique of bellydance., - Demonstration of the authenticity of the style and level of complexity of the figures used in the composition., - Accuracy of the performance in accordance with the music and rhythm.
RHYTHM - a bright, expressive tool. It defines the nature of music.
But, if you only get into RHYTHM, it does not mean that you are a musician .
You should: 1) Get into the tempo (the main dance accents coincide with musical accents. 2) Get into the basic rhythm that determines the musical character of the dance. 3) Be able to display an incremental rhythm (using intermediate movements for a brighter color of the rhythm, for example, dancing syncope. 4) Use contrast rhythms (periodically changing the main rhythm to the opposite one, instead of fast movement, use slow and vice versa, and use pauses) .
Thus, if the performer is not dancing to music, he may be in last place.
It is very important that the dancers were able to convey to the viewer everything that was intended in the composition, and in this connection it is recommended to choose those movements, rhythms, dances corresponding to their level of dancing, which they can successfully perform at competitions.

COMPOSITION includes: Directing numbers, movements, figures, drawings, lines. Variability, creativity and originality, the use of horizontal and vertical space, the use of the dance floor. Composition is not only the statement and drawing of the dance, but the harmonious disclosure of the number in the semantic conformity of the music and the concept of lexical and musical material.
The number should correspond to the age category of the dancer and should not visually or musically insult the audience.
Important aspect of the IMAGE is the adequacy of the costume, makeup, and appearance of the dancer. (hairstyle., body., etc.) The suit must be clean, matched in size.
Other aspect of the image is the MANNER of execution. Self-expression, self-presentation, contact with the viewer.
Before entering the competition with the performance, you need to get acquainted with the culture of the country you are going to represent. F here come- gestures, facial expressions, MANNER of performance of dance.
Also, separately, I would like to mention such a criterion as ACTING.
This is naturalness, but not “mincing”
Emotional performance of the choeography, originality, individuality, as well as the ability to hold the hall are the components of the success of a dancer.
And the last criterion for evaluation is the GENERAL IMPRESSION of the judge. The most subjective criterion !!!

Summarizing the above:
Judges must take into account these aspects for grading.as well as choreographers while making choreography to the composition., So about teachers, working out and preparing their students for competitions.
And DEAR STUDENTS, I wish you fruitful preparation for competitions and, of course, professional growth and success.
